Tommie Price Tanksley, 64, of Ethel, Mississippi, passed away on July 5, 2025, due to heart failure. Born on June 5, 1961, Tommie lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for his family and the outdoors.
Memorial services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date.
An avid sportsman, Tommie found joy in deer hunting and fishing alongside his brothers, creating cherished memories in the fields and waters of Mississippi. As an ironworker by trade, he took pride in his craft, building not just structures but a legacy of hard work and integrity.
Tommie is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Vera "Gigi" Tanksley, his son Jonathan Tanksley, daughter-in-law Barbara Tanksley, and his beloved grandchildren, Pharaoh Pryce Tanksley and Egypt Amour Tanksley, all of Ethel, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his brothers, Paul Tanksley (wife Debra) of Kosciusko, Mississippi, and William K. Tanksley of Ethel, Mississippi, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. His faithful dogs, Honey Bun and Baby, will miss his gentle presence.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. (Bill) Tanksley, his mother, Melba Ellington Tanksley, and his brother, Timothy Tanksley.
In a final act of selflessness, Tommie donated his body to the Genesis Program at the Medical Education & Research Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, to support the education of future doctors, morticians, and medical examiners. His generosity will continue to touch lives beyond his own.
