In Loving Memory of Tommie Nathaniel Thomas
August 13, 1954 – March 24, 2025
With profound sadness, we share the passing of Tommie N. Thomas, a man of
unwavering love, boundless intellect, and a spirit that touched so many.
Tommie was a United States Air Force veteran, a respected professional and leader at
DHS (Department of Homeland Security), and a brilliant architect, who built not just
structures, but legacies. He had a deep passion for acquiring knowledge-whether it
was architectural design, history, politics, or the latest news, he absorbed it all and
shared it with those around him. But beyond his professional achievements, he was a
man of heart.
Tommie's love of cooking was just another way he brought people together. Whether
perfecting a new recipe while throwing down in the kitchen, or sharing meals with loved
ones, his culinary skills were a reflection of his warmth and generosity. He found joy in
traveling, in the rhythm of hand-dancing, and in cheering for his beloved Kansas City
Chiefs and University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
Above all, Tommie was a family man-a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He
leaves behind his loving wife, Gloria Jackie Thomas, his son, Christopher Thomas, his
stepchildren, Desmond Walker and Nicole Davis, his grandsons Nathan Thomas and
Christopher (CJ) Thomas Jr, and his sister, Rosemary Jackson and brother, Gregory
Thomas. He was predeceased by his son Phillip Thomas. Tommie's impact will live on,
for those who knew him, the lessons he taught, and the love he so freely gave.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Tommie is now dancing,
debating, and cooking up something special in heaven. May his legacy of love, laughter,
and togetherness continue to inspire us all.
