Tommy Herbert Chambers, age 95 of the Mill Branch community, TN passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born in Scott County, TN on September 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Joe and Laura Collins Chambers. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Concord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mertie Phillips Chambers; brothers, J.R. Chambers and Clifton Chambers; sisters, Jetta Faye Chambers and Eva Litton; father and mother-in-law, Ulyses and Margaret West Phillips; brothers-in-law, Dillard Phillips, Boyd Phillips, Willard Phillips, Ruben Phillips, and Odie Phillips; sisters-in-law, Gerthia Phillips, Leora Acres, and Cora Chitwood.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Suetta Schmitt and husband Jeff; grandsons, Wade Young and wife Cassie, and Ben Schmitt and wife Tina; honorary granddaughters, Tina Stewart and Heather Stewart; great granddaughters, Kendra Schmitt, Kera VanRees and husband Ethan, and Katie Schmitt; great-great grandsons, Eugene Schmitt, Caleb Schmitt, Mason Schmitt, and BuckLee VanRees; special cousin, Eustace Collins and wife Sharon; special family friend, Dorothy Smith; sister, Colletta Chitwood and husband Cecil; brother, Bradford Chambers; sister-in-law, Devorah Lovett; many nieces, nephews, other family members and countless friends.
Friends may visit with the Chambers family on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim West officiating. Music will be provided by James Blanks.
Committal service will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be: David Booth, Daniel Crowley, Darrell Honeycutt, Jerry Chambers, Chad Nixdorf, and Sid Summitt. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Byrd, Sr., David Duncan, and Daniel King.
