Tommy Travis Copeland, age 80, resident of Williston, Tennessee, departed this life on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Collierville, Tennessee.
Mr. Copeland was born on August 2, 1945, the son of the late Joe Copeland and Hazel Blankenship. He graduated from Kenton High School, Kenton, Tennessee, in 1963, then served in the United States Navy on the USS Randolph, assisting in aircraft recovery.
He later became an aircraft mechanic for FedEx for over 25 years, retiring in 2011.
Tommy enjoyed gardening, was an avid outdoorsman—hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, and scuba diving. His favorite pastimes were music and gardening.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife, Carolyn Green Copeland of Williston, Tennessee; his son, Russ Chessor (Christy) of Ashland, Virginia; sister, Jill Copeland of Collierville, Tennessee; brother, Jock Copeland (Joni) of Collierville, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Matthew Chessor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Copeland and Hazel Blankenship; his son, Antony Chessor; and brother, Freddie Copeland.
Visitation for Mr. Copeland will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Somerville, Tennessee from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Bro. Stan Smith officiating.
Interment will be private.
