Tommy Ray Heard, a beloved soul, bid farewell to this world on July 9, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a profound impact on those who had the honor of knowing him. Born on August 23, 1954, in Benton, AR, Tom was a quiet yet kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of many with his spirit.
Having attended Baptist College and later serving in the Army after High School, Tom displayed dedication and commitment in all aspects of his life. His love for painting, music, and animals illuminated his creative soul and brought joy to those around him. His passion for these hobbies served as a testament to his vibrant and artistic nature.
In his journey through life, Tom was blessed with the unwavering support and love of his family. He joins his parents, Piercy Heard and Susie Heard, as well as his brother, Essie Heard and his loyal feline companion "Meow" in eternal peace. While we mourn the loss of Tommy, we find solace in the memories we shared with him and the love that will continue to reside in our hearts.
Tom is survived by his brother, Piercy Heard, Jr.; sisters, Ruthie Sims, Amel Ponial (James), Rosie Cooper (Don), Joe Ann Clegg (John Sr.); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The services to honor and remember Tommy Ray Heard will be held at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St. Benton, AR. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM followed by burial at 11:00 AM at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave. North Little Rock, AR with military honors. These gatherings offer an opportunity to celebrate Tommy's life and legacy while finding comfort in each other's presence.
In Tom's memory, let us carry forward the values of kindness, creativity, and compassion that he embodied so effortlessly. May his legacy continue to inspire us to cherish every moment and spread love to those around us. Rest in peace, Tommy Ray Heard - your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
