Tommy LaBuda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Funeral Home - Fountain Hill on Jan. 20, 2026.
Tommy LaBuda, 74, a lifelong resident of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 17, 2026. Born on September 15, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Semuta) LaBuda.

Despite the challenges he faced from birth, his beautiful spirit shone through, thanks to the unwavering support of a team of angels, who were his family, lifelong friends, and dedicated caregivers. Together, they ensured that Tommy's life was not only filled with love and care but also with remarkable achievements.

A true legend in his own right, Tommy was a familiar and welcome presence in Fountain Hill, where his infectious enthusiasm and genuine interest in others earned him the affectionate title of the town's honorary mayor. His commitment to his faith was evident through his active participation as a parishioner of St. Ursula's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

Tommy's love for sports was unparalleled, and he was an integral part of the local Fountain Hill sports scene. He was always ready to cheer on his favorite teams, including Lehigh, the Phillies, and the Eagles. He took great pride in having thrown out the first pitch at numerous Fountain Hill Little League opening day ceremonies. Tommy was also a proud supporter of the Connie Mack baseball team, especially during their triumphant Pennsylvania state championship season.

But perhaps Tommy's most enduring contribution to his community was the friendships he fostered. His relationships spanned generations, starting with the teenage boys who embraced him in the late 1960s and never let go. Tommy's life was a mosaic of shared meals, daily visits, church gatherings, and regular phone calls. He had a unique way of communicating, and those who took the time to listen were rewarded with the gift of truly knowing him.

Survivors: He was a beloved brother to Bob LaBuda and his wife Angel of New Hope, and to Jim LaBuda and his wife Anita of Whitehall. Though preceded in death by his sister Sylvia Meadows, brother Raymond LaBuda, and niece Megan LaBuda, Tommy's legacy is carried on by his devoted nieces, nephews, and a legion of loving friends who became his extended family.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday January 23, 2025 at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway Fountain Hill, PA 18015, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12 Noon, until the time of the Mass. Tommy's burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tommy's name to Fountain Hill Little League, 941 Long St., Fountain Hill, PA 18015.

To Bob Labuda and family. I was sorry to hear of the passing of Tommy. The picture book was wonderful, what a smile he had! I also enjoyed the pictures of your Mom and Dad, which instantly took me back to our friendship at Saint Cyril and Methodius both on the south side and Fountain Hill. Peace to all, Andy Pribulka.
