Tommy Wayne Lott went to be with our Lord on December 23, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1937 to Thomas Jefferson and Emma Olivia Brewer Lott in
Wells, Texas, later moving to Houston. He graduated from the University of Houston, School of Business in 1959 where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Tommy married June Ruyle in 1957, spending 57 wonderful years together until her passing in 2014.
Tommy created a network of business mentors and partners, which led to the creation of the Lott Marketing Company. Lott Marketing had seven offices across three states. During that time, Tommy encouraged University of Houston students to immerse themselves in business opportunities, networking with companies in Houston. He sold Lott Marketing in 2012 but remained as a consultant.
Throughout his life, Tommy was on various boards, most recently the Community Bank of Texas where he assisted through various mergers. He was a member of the "C" Club of Houston for many years and was on the Hermann Park Conservancy Board. He was a residential apartment and commercial real estate investor.
In late 2014, Tommy met Judge Sherry Applewhite. Their love blossomed, developing into a deep and meaningful relationship. They became partners in many ventures and were subsequently married in 2016. Together, Tommy and Sherry built "Lott Hall" and the "Lott Family Carousel" in Hermann Park for celebratory events. Recently, to escape the Texas heat, he and Sherry enjoyed spending time in their summer home in Diamond Creek, North Carolina.
There was no stranger in this world to Tommy. He had many dedicated friends and associates who will remember his kind, caring and loving heart. Tommy was always the ultimate southern gentleman, and an entrepreneur at heart, with an unquenchable curiosity.
Tommy is predeceased by his parents and his brother, James William Lott. Tommy leaves behind his beloved wife, Sherry Lott, his son Ron (wife Gay) and daughter Sandy, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Tommy's life, officiated by Pastor Bill Jones from First Baptist Church,
Newland, NC, will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Carter-Bradshaw Funeral Home, to be followed by a reception until 5:00 pm.
