Anna Pearl McCarty Lott (June 18, 1926-March 5, 2026)
Anna was born in 1926 in rural Saluda County near Batesburg, S.C. youngest child of Cassandra (Cassie) Goff and Middleton (Mid) McCarty. She is pre-deceased by her spouse of 64 years, J.M. Lott, by her brother, Paul, three sisters; Ruth, Rosa Lee, and Inez as well as two half-sisters; Eva and Elsie. She grew up on the farm and attended Batesburg-Leesville High School.
In 1943, Anna left high school to work as a battery-filler in the mill in Vaucluse, S.C. soon becoming acquainted with her future husband, J.M. Lott. They married in 1945 and raised three children in Vaucluse. Both worked as loyal employees for Graniteville Company. Anna became a weaver and later a cloth inspector. She even used early computer technology to keep inventory for the cloth room. She was proud to earn her high school GED in 1979 after her children were grown.
She kept close ties to her Batesburg family and told interesting stories about growing up on the farm during the Depression. Anna loved writing poems about many subjects, and her family still enjoys her collection. Anna was a Christian. She and J.M. helped found the Baptist church in Eureka, S.C. where they attended for 30 years. She taught Sunday School and kept fond memories of the girls she taught. In 1991 she and J.M. joined First Baptist Church of Vaucluse where Anna remained active for 30 years. She especially loved her friends in the Bethany Fidelis Sunday School Class. Anna always enjoyed singing and still sang familiar hymns during her time in assisted living, especially at the weekly services led by Hillview Baptist Church and Word of Life Church.
She enjoyed being Nanny to her grandchildren and to many others. Her favorite chore was holding the babies. When her husband developed Parkinson's Disease, Anna became a devoted caregiver, first at home and then during his stay in the nursing home. After his passing, Anna took on a project to sew dresses for a mission organization called Little Dresses for Africa. She and friends from church sewed more than 2000 dresses for orphans in East Africa.
She is survived by three children: Larry Lott (Billie Ann), Loretta Farrow (Bill) and Pam Burnett (Don); six grand-children: Julie Mills (Greg), Nathan Lott (Elizabeth), Micah Lott (Laura), Erin McFadden (Rob), Anna Crocker (Than), Adam Burnett (Kayla); and nine great-grandchildren: Lydia Bridges, Turner Lott, Malon McFadden, Julia Lott, Maverick Redd, Cason Burnett, Amelia Burnett, Theodora Lott and Augustine Lott.
The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice Services of Georgia and South Carolina and Gentiva Hospice which provided services to Mrs. Lott for the past three years.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at The Place at Shadow Oaks for their loving care for our mother from April 2, 2022, until her death.

The family invites everyone to stay after the service for greeting & fellowship to enjoy a large variety of desserts in the activity building in rear of church, because Anna loved her “sweets!!”.
