Tommy Lindsey Myers, age 83, passed away on August 9, 2025 in Duncan, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family.
Tommy was born on November 27, 1941, to 'Miss Jessie' Irene (Lindsey) and W.T. "Teeter" Myers in Marlow, OK. Tommy graduated from Marlow High School in 1959. Tommy served with pride as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve from 1965 to 1969. He dedicated 38 years to Halliburton Services in Scheduling and Rolling Equipment.
Tommy loved the Lord and his family dearly. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, and wildlife conservation. There was not a bird species that he did not know. He enjoyed building and placing duck boxes to provide safe wetland nesting sites for wood ducks. He enjoyed planting and tending to a vegetable garden every year. In his later years, he appreciated quiet morning moments on his backyard deck, cup of coffee in hand, looking out across his garden and the greenbelt.
In 1994, Tommy married Sharyn Nelson, and they shared 31 wonderful years of marriage. Through those years, they gardened and cooked, prepped for family meals, and cherished holidays. Thanksgiving dressing preparation was a particular favorite after years of discussing and agreeing on WHAT actually went into the cornbread dressing. They helped care for their older neighbors through the years. They especially enjoyed serving their Chisholm Trail church family through visitation, helping prepare funeral meals, preparing Wednesday service meals and community outreach through the Compassion Center.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Sharyn Myers; five children: Angela Scott of Ada, OK; Michael Myers and wife Kristin of Bloomington, IN; Darrin Myers of Hogansville, GA; Holly Morrisett and husband Brad of Edmond, OK; and Brian Dodd and wife Suzanne of Duncan, OK. He was a proud grandfather to Ross Morrisett and wife Carli; Emily Morrisett; Quinton Scott and wife Ashley; Madison Koski; Sophie Myers; Landen Dodd; and Hayden Dodd. He was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Ava, Gemma, and Piper Morrisett; Emmalynn Scott and Kinadee Scott. Sister-in-Law, Karen Slagle and husband Mark; Niece, Heather Andricain and husband Juan; Nephew, Brad Slagle and wife Julie.
Tommy will be remembered for his strong faith in the Lord, his love for his family, his humble nature, and inherent kindness.
Interment will be on Tuesday, August 12, at 9:00 A.M. at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan at 10:30 A.M. with Leonard Keele and Steve Gregg officiating.
Pallbearers are Brian Dodd, Landen Dodd, Brad Morrisett, Ross Morrisett, Mark Slagle, Brad Slagle, Randy Robinson, and Quinton Scott. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Allred and Jerry Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Compassion Center, c/o Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, 3204 W. Beech Ave., Duncan, OK 73533.
