Tommy Lee Simmons was born June 1, 1953, in Paducah, Kentucky. He was the son of William Henry Simmons and Dorothy Lee Campbell Simmons. Tommy surrendered this earthly life to his Heavenly Father on August 22, 2025, after a brief illness, sitting peacefully on the front porch.

Tommy "Tucker" as we called him, was a Paducah Tilghman graduate. He decided he wanted to see the world, so he enlisted in the US Army, where he stayed for 6 years. He later worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for 18 years. There hasn't been a time when Tommy wasn't doing some kind of work.

In his younger days, Tommy was a very good bowler, but as he got older, you would find him playing dominoes on the porch or under a tree at our family picnics. Tommy loved his westerns. At the picnics, he would try to get different people's phones so he could watch them outside the house. He also loved music; one of his favorites was "Pokey Bear". He was the life of the picnics and will be greatly missed.

Tommy was a very important part of the Simeon tribe when at Greater Love Church. He always helped us put the tents up as part of the "Willingworkers", at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; he was too ill this year to do so. He always supported the family by buying dinners.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Simmons and Dorothy Lee Campbell Simmons, two brothers, George Simmons and Gary Simmons, and one sister, Henrietta Tivis.

Left behind to cherish his memories are: His Six Siblings, Robert (Martha) Simmons, Alfordteen Simmons-Freeman, Doris (James) Allen, Peggy (Pastor Michael) Wade all of Paducah, KY; Gladys Simmons-Ball of Chattanooga, TN and Timothy Simmons of Paducah, KY; A Sister-in-law, Victoria A. Simmons and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Tommy was well-liked and loved by everyone; he had a lot of friends he would see at the Community Kitchen.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Wade and Reverend Kenya Deon Wade officiating.

Family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Burial will follow on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound, IL.
