Tommy Francis Smith, Jr., known to friends and family as "TJ," age 40, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center.
TJ was born on July 1, 1984, in San Bernardino, California, to Tommy Sr. and Cinnamon (Steffen) Smith. He attended Jefferson City High School and spent his life enjoying the outdoors, with a deep love for fishing, hunting, and camping. His zest for adventure and the simple joys of nature was a central part of who he was.
TJ is survived by his loving parents, Tommy Sr. and Cinnamon Smith of Jefferson City; his siblings, Amber McGee (Josh Schlottke), Dustin Smith (Emoni Prenger), and Abby Dye; his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Sophie, Gabby Xavier, Naomi, Markele, Marshawn, Zina and, Jasmine; and a large, extended family, including cousins Denise Garlock, Melissa Fry, Sherry Serrano, Kenny Wiley, Shawn Isbell, Ryan Isbell, Levi Land, Joey (Shannon) Smith, Johanna Jones, Michael Williams, April Smith, Keri Flock, Madison Garlock, Cody Land, Chelsi Eckert, Glen Williams, Lee Allan Williams, Maryjan Williams, Joe Atterberry, Jr., Dylan Atterberry, Sophia Atterberry, Cindy Acheson, and Kenzie Politte (Smith). He is also survived by his aunts Kathy Fry, Mary Wiley, Cheri Williams, Ann Isbell, Dorothy Williams, CJ Carter, and Roxanne Scott; and uncles Walter Smith, Jimmy Williams, and Buck Smith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Brandy Smith; his brother, Frankie Smith; his uncle, Carl Williams; and his grandparents, Vesta Mae Frances (Gullett) & Walter Glen Smith, and Shirley and Frank Latner. He was also preceded by his cousins, Tami Smith and Chris Wiley.
TJ's warmth and his love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit will live on in the memories of the countless adventures, laughter, and bonds he shared with his loved ones.
A memorial visitation to celebrate TJ's life will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 at HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors in Jefferson City.
