Tommye Nance, a beloved member of the Tahoka community, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the age of 79 leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Born on November 4, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas, Tommye grew up in El Dorado where she attended school. As a young adult, Tommye moved to Dallas, where she met Jeff Nance, the love of her life. They married in May 1967 and settled in Tahoka by 1969, building a life grounded in love and community. Tommye’s career was marked by dedicated service and compassion. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for many years in Tahoka, contributing her talents at Dr. Midkiff’s dental practice and later with Attorney Cal Huffaker, before retiring.
Tommye was known by all who met her as a friend to everyone, a woman who never met a stranger. She was a giver, always considerate, and a trusted Christian soul whose warmth and generosity propelled her throughout her lifetime. Her welcoming smile and gentle ways made an indelible mark on both family and community alike.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Trey Nance and wife Trista of Allen, and Misty Terry and husband Colby of Lubbock. Tommye was a cherished "Meme" to five grandchildren—Victoria, Noah, Knox, Breklyn (Eddie), and Grayson—and a proud great-"meme" to Emory, Saylor, and Amelia. She is also survived by her siblings Elaine Smith and husband Ed of Tahoka, and Tom Dempsey of Eldorado.
Tommy was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Loleta (Burleson) Dempsey; brother, Dwain Dempsey in 2008, son, Michael Nance in 2017, and husband, J.E. "Jeff" Nance in 2019.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, March 23, 2026 Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka. Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tueday, March 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church Tahoka with interment to follow at Nevels Memorial Cemetery.
