Toni Renee Burgess

HOWARD: Toni Renee Burgess passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in her home, surrounded by her family at the age of 65.
She was born on November 4, 1959, to parents William & Anna (Ohler) Leatherow in Ashland, Ohio. Toni graduated from Hillsdale High School with the class of 1978, and later she married Douglas Burgess on July 9, 1982. The pair were married for 43 years.
Toni worked off and on in the retail industry, working for several companies, most recently for Quality Farm and Fleet, Odd Lots, and Lowe's in Mt. Vernon.
In her spare time, Toni was an avid crafter. She enjoyed a wide variety of crafts, but really enjoyed making gnomes and centerpieces. She also enjoyed motorcycle and car racing. Toni was loved by everyone who knew her, had a great sense of humor that often earned her the label of being ornery, and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Burgess; her sons, William Burgess and Bradley Burgess; her grandchildren, Hunter, Zoe, Kylie, Kiara, Cyrus, Julian, Addison, Mia, Kaiden, and Brittney; her siblings, Terry Leatherow and Gloria Stoops; her brother-in-law, James Shafer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Shafer, her sister-in-law Vicki Leatherow, and her brother-in-law David Stoops.
The Burgess family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home-Lindsey Chapel in Loudonville, Ohio, with a funeral service on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Tommy Theisen will officiate, and burial will follow in Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville.
Contributions in Toni's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice at the funeral home.
