Toni Berryhill Gary went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2025, at her home in Inverness,
Mississippi. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Inverness, Mississippi at
11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, with visitation at the church following the service.
Toni was born on March 2, 1951, in Isola. After attending Isola School District through most of
her school years, she later graduated as valedictorian from Belzoni High School. She earned
her bachelor's degree from Mississippi University for Women where she was a Silhouette, and
later received her master's degree from Delta State University. Her post graduate studies
continued at Mississippi College.
With a passion for helping people, Toni's career consisted of social work, counseling, teaching
and fundraising. She helped establish the popular "Sharecropper" cookbook which was a key
fundraiser for Central Delta Academy. She made a lasting impact on students while at
Indianola Academy and Mississippi Delta Community College. Toni's bravely-fought breast
cancer journey came to define her later years and inspired her to become involved in the
American Cancer Society and start Relay For Life in Indianola.
Toni was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Inverness, MS, playing the organ for
as long as she was able.
Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. YaYa, as she was affectionately
known, was always up for ball games, tea parties, dance recitals, concerts, and family
gatherings as often as her health allowed.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Alyene Berryhill, and sister, Dianne
Berryhill Smith. She is survived by her children, Addison Hall IV (Irene) of Flowood, son of CA
Hall III, Kristina Gary Artman (Paul) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and James Gary of Inverness,
both children of Mark Gary; her grandchildren, Baker Hall, Maddie Hall, Loftin Gary, Matthew
Gary, and Amelia Cate Gary; brother, Neal Berryhill (Ann) of Starkville; nieces Nikki Berryhill
Roberson (Tom) of Starkville, and Wendelin Smith Brewer of Florida; and great nieces Maril
and Ellis Ann Jackson of Starkville.
The family asks for attendees to wear a touch of pink in honor of Toni's fight with breast
cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704
Hagerstown, MD 21741 or a charity of your choice.
