Tonji Denise King Robinson was born on Sunday, February 25, 1973, in Jackson, TN. She unexpectedly departed this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Jackson, TN.
She was the eldest daughter of the late Linda Utley King and Ernest J. King Jr, Jackson, TN. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Blair's Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
She attended Jackson-Central Merry High School (JCM). While attending Jackson Central Merry High School, She was known as a caring friend, socialite, and fashion sense. After high school, She worked for the PRA Group before stepping out on faith and becoming a well-known entrepreneur.
She used her business savviness and love for fashion to start Spoiled Lashes Studios in Memphis, TN, and Double or Nothing Boutique in Jackson, TN. Anyone who drove by her boutique and studio would see cars lined up filled with customers. She knew how to make all women look and feel like queens by giving them the latest fashions and styles, cracking funny jokes, and giving sisterly advice to help them in their life's journey.
As an entrepreneur, she spent a significant amount of her time traveling the country and hosting styling events for various celebrities. She also enjoyed planning family gatherings and spending time with friends.
Most recently, she offered mentorship to the next generation by hosting "Boss Brunches" seminars to help young stylists prepare for the beauty industry. She had a God-given mission of speaking life into people and encouraging them to meet their goals. She was also a member of the Deborah Chapter #98 of the Order of Eastern Star.
On September 1, 2012, She married the love of her life, her prince charming, Lamont Robinson, whom she referred to as "Husband."
She was preceded in death by her mother Linda Utley King, her maternal grandparents Thomas and Mary Lou Utley, her paternal grandfather Ernest King Sr, and several aunts and uncles.
Tonji leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memories, including her loving husband, Lamont Robinson. Her children Kendall R. Grimes, Jamari Robinson, and Nakeya (Richard) Robinson- Neptune. Her devoted father Ernest (Sandra) King, and her paternal grandmother Helen B. King. Her caring siblings Marcus (Inglan) King, Donnie (Lakisha) Wortham, Sharon R. King, and Erica (Nigel) King. Her mother-in- law Angell Moore. Her brother-in-law Nathaniel Fields and Raymond Fields, and two sisters-in-law Anissa Smith and Annisa Fields.She also leaves several aunts and uncles: Fulton (Judy) Childress, James D. King, Gregory (Jackie) King, Harold (Tina) King, Jeffrey (Cherly) King, Carolyn Phelps, Nancy Utley, Barbara Ellison, Robbie (James) Chandler, Cynthia Anderson, Ella Utley, Jimmie Ruth Douglass, and Jacquline Ezell. Along with two nephews Anthony Burden, Tevin (Shasta) King, and one niece Markeia Yarbrough. In addition, she leaves her devoted Godchildren: Carikos Woolfork Jr and Car'Merace Woolfork.
As you can see, she was a firm believer in family. She also leaves a very loving and large family, including a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she had shared a special bond.
