Tony Dale Bodholdt, age 63, of Newell, Iowa died October 13, 2025 at his home.
Memorial services will take place Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Tony was born August 9th 1962, to Dale and Judy (Hunter) Bodholdt. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church in Newell, where he remained a lifelong member.
Over the years he welcomed home four younger brothers Timothy, Rodney, Sidney, and Michael. Tony loved the outdoors and was actively involved in sports and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping from a young age. He began raising hogs while in high school and graduated from Newell Providence in 1981 and continued raising hogs while beginning to farm. He enjoyed tending his garden and sharing what he grew – especially his watermelons.
Tony was united in marriage to Lori (Lynch) April 13, 1985. The couple was blessed with two children: Jason and Kari.
Tony continued to stay busy farming and raising hogs but in his free-time he enjoyed slow-pitch softball and hunting and fishing when time allowed. He was a life long fan of the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and Iowa Hawkeyes - but could find enjoyment in most any sporting events. He served on the Buena Vista County Conservation Board for 25 years, the Newell Cooperative Elevator Board, was a member of the Newell Lions Club and held various positions in his church. Tony coached multiple youth sports teams for both of his kids. Tony was blessed to spend his lifetime farming and truly loved his life's work and sharing it with his family. One of Tony's greatest joys in life was being "Grumpa" to his grandkids. There was always a spark in his eye and he was one to find the humor in most any situation.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lori, son Jason (Andrea) Bodholdt, daughter Kari (Bryce) DeMoss, grandchildren Anthony and Alexandra DeMoss, and Melany Bodholdt, parents Dale & Judy Bodholdt, brothers Rod (Sandee) Bodholdt, Sid (Kim) Bodholdt, Mike (Angie) Bodholdt, mother-in-law Nancy Lynch, sister-in-law Kathy (Glenn) Linden, brother-in-law Mike Lynch, brother-in-law Pat (Michele) Lynch, as well as many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his younger brother, Tim, maternal grandparents, Harold & Wanda Hunter, and paternal grandparents Albert & Juanita Bodholdt.
