Tony Hudson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2020.
Tony M. Hudson (56 years old), beloved brother, uncle and friend entered eternal rest on April 22, 2020. Tony went to be with the Lord in peace while sleeping at home in his own bed. He was born on June 15, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois where he grew up on the, ""low end,"" with his mother and six siblings. He was the 7th of seven children. He graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in 1981 with honors and received a scholarship to attend college in Arizona so to say he was smart is an understatement. He returned home and pursued a career in culinary arts.

He went to work at various JW Marriott properties and was promoted to Assistant Sous Chef. Over the last 13 years he fed hundreds of thousands putting his culinary skill to practice, working banquets and dining at Crowne Plaza Chicago. A man of God and of immense integrity, Tony was a proud member of the fraternal organization of Freemasons and apart of UNITE HERE Local 1. A diligent chef, his second home was the kitchen where he whipped up many a masterpiece. Like any artist, Tony loved to share that gift with the world.

To quote Julia Child, ""Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it;"" is the motto Tony lived by. His passion and love of cooking was revered by many who had the pleasure of eating his food. The numerous dishes executed by him were scrumptious. The plethora of family dinners and holiday gatherings he hosted; he always put on a feast of delectable food. His cheesecake was always a hit and out of this world often requested by family members, friends, and celebrities.

Tony was a great soul and lived his life in service to others; his family, his friends, his customers, and his fellow man / woman. A go-to-guy, whether the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his wallet, if he could give it to you, he would. Led by his formidable faith, Tony had an abundance of compassion and a tremendous heart. The last to eat and the first to listen, with his talent, patience, and wisdom he ministered compassion and understanding to others. Tony was a stylish, exuberant man with a great sense of humor. He dressed in a manner which depicted his personality; colorful yet modest. His love of hats and collection of watches demonstrated his flare and fortitude. He had a great adoration for Patti LaBelle, gospel music and his drink of choice was none other than the top-selling American whiskey in the world, good 'ol Jack Daniels.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Myrtle Hudson and survived by his two sisters, Wanda Newton and Jacqueline Hudson, his four brothers, Leonard Hudson ( Kiyoko), Jerome Hudson (Etora), Louis Hudson (Renice), and Luther Hudson, his niece LaTosha Raines (Matthew), his nephews, Rocko Hudson, Donald Doyle (Nedra), Sean Newton, Christopher Hudson ( Amanda), Jeron Hudson, his two great nieces, Gianna Doyle, Ariana Doyle, a host of relatives and friends. All of whom he loved and touched profoundly.

Tony was a bundle of laughs and often the life of the party; he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for the interment of ashes will be scheduled for a later date and held at Concordia Cemetery 7900 Madison St, Forest Park, IL 60130. In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for someone else.

My Family Friend Tony,
You are sorely missed. As I see butterflies flying freely, I will think of you. Your infectious laugh and the Bear hugs received whenever we met. Gone to soon!

I miss and think about my brother everyday. I met Tony at The Marriott Hotel in the 80's.We became so close as friends, that we became brothers. The sorrow we feel when we lose a loved one is the price we pay to have had them in our lives.I thank Tony for sharing his life and time with me, very much appreciated. Take your place next to the King. Peaceful Journey!!!!
