June 19, 1982 - June 2, 2023 Michael "Tony" Owens, 40, passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, in Phoenix, AZ.

Tony was born on Father's Day, June 19th, 1982, in Salinas, CA, to Cheryl Ann and Michael Owens.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of seven years, Elda Owens of Yuma, AZ, who he adored. Tony is also survived by father, Michael Owens of Yuma, AZ, his brothers, Robert (Haylie) Owens of Yuma, AZ, and Christopher (Laurelle) Chastain of Townsville, Australia, and his nephew, Carter Owens.

In Mexicali, Mexico Tio Tono was surrounded with love by Elda's family and friends. He was truly "at home" there!

He grew up in Arroyo Grande, CA, for kindergarten through 4th grade. In 1992, his family then moved to Yuma, AZ, where he attended Crane Junior High, and ultimately graduated from Yuma High School in 2000.

Tony attended, and worked for, Arizona Western College where he was a tutor in their computer lab. He graduated in 2002 with an Associate of Arts degree. In 2003, he attended The University of Advanced Computer Technology in Phoenix, AZ. In 2007, Tony graduated with a Bachelor's degree from The University of Arizona's College of Fine Arts in Tucson, AZ.

Tony worked for Nunes Cooling, traveling between Arizona and California.

When he was younger he worked for Game Stop and loved playing Magic The Gathering at "Fan Quest". Tony had a lifetime love of the Raiders football team and attended games as often as possible in their Oakland stadium. He was a trivia buff. Tony enjoyed all aspects cinema and he loved reading science fiction.

Tony was the kindest, most thoughtful and caring person. He was 6 feet 4 inches tall and had the heart of a gentle giant. Tony loved and was loved. He cared about other people's feelings and always tried to help if he could.

Our little world was better with Tony in it. He will be sorely missed. Go with love my son. Tony Owens

Minerva is going to miss her uncle Toño. She knows that you are watching over our family and that you're an angel. She made a picture of her uncle.

Tony, T-Dawg, friend, and brother. Whatever I write here will never carry the weight of how I feel about you. We've known each over for over 25 years. Together we have laughed, cried, and bled in the trenches at work, as well as in our homes. We have always had each other's back. I'm going to miss our debates over movies and the corner cases of board game rules. I love you, brother. Be at peace.

I have had the honor to be friends with Tony for the past 25 years. I will cherish the memories of the times I got to spend with him and his family. Playing volleyball and board games afterwards were some of the funnest times I've had.

I'll miss you Tony.

I first met Tony at the Yuma High School chess club, and we were pretty fast friends. He was a gentle soul who always was up for a game or a chat. I will treasure my time I had with him, whether it was a chess game, late night volleyball, a Zoom trivia night, or a Gloomhaven session with his bear. You will be greatly missed, my friend. - Skyler

I met Tony in 2005 when I began dating his best friend Kaonee. Tony was always sweet and welcoming and quickly became my friend as well. He was the best man at our wedding and to this day I remember his lovely speach. Our home is filled with pictures and mementos of Tony which we treasure. We spent holidays, birthdays, regular days, many late nights and good times talking, laughing and playing games. Tony was part of our family and is truly missed. We love you Owen's family and are here for you always. All our love, Amanda and Kaonee Shugart

My tears flow from the knowledge of how much pain Tony endured and how much pain his family is experiencing now but I consider Tony an extraordinarily fortunate man. He was blessed with unconditional love from the finest family that ever existed.

A family that shares their hearts without expectations or conditions and who were always there for him regardless of circumstance. Viewing the Owens family for all these years, as they have dealt with tragedy and blessings and never wavered in their love and support of each other, has provided me a window to view what unconditional love truly is.

I don´t pretend to be certain of what the afterlife is but I know that right now Tony´s mom, uncles and grandparents are there and providing him with more of that wonderful Owens love.
