Tony Joe Smith, 68, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Tony was born on September 30, 1957, in Henry County, Missouri to Courtney Eugene Smith and Marilyn Jean Ritzo.
He was united in marriage to Cynthia "Cyndi" Kay Herold-Smith.
Tony proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he spent many years owning a construction company and then working as an equipment operator and truck driver in the 1990's until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
Tony enjoyed hunting, avid support of 2A rights, motorcycles, and outdoor activities. He appreciated the simple things in life and the freedom of the open road.
He is survived by his children: Tony Smith Jr., Michael Keech, Michael Smith, Carrie Ann Herold, and Angie Smith; his brothers, John Smith and Ronnie Smith; his sister, Mary Smith; his grandchildren, Jaedon, Gwenith, Bradley Lane, Alissa, Alina, and Chazzli; and his great-grandchildren, Camaya and Anna.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Smith, and his parents, Courtney and Marilyn Smith.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. You may visit millardfamilychapels.com and select "make a payment" in the upper right of the screen. Type in Tony's name and follow the prompts.
Friends and family will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with service to follow. The service will open with the Pastor Dennis Helton officiating, and a live microphone will be available for anyone who wishes to share memories or remarks in honor of Tony.
