Tony Thomas, 69, of Lubbock, TX passed away in his home on August 14, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Combest Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX. Tony was born in Abilene, TX to Darrell Thomas and Johnnie Alene Alexander-Thomas on October 1, 1954. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mark Thomas and nephew, Zack Thomas. Tony is survived by his sister-in-law, Laurie Thomas, niece, Ashley Lujan, grand-nephews, Ethan Lujan, Jesse Laine Thomas and Cade Lujan, along with other aunts and cousins.
Tony graduated college from South West Texas State University in San Marcos, TX in 1980. He was an educator for several years, and moved on to work in various industries, spending several years as a top insurance salesman, and finally 15+ years as a Correctional Officer for the State of Texas before he retired. Tony was an avid sharpshooter who loved participating in competitions and teaching gun safety and firearm proficiency. He was a strong-willed man who was giving to those in need. He valued common sense and a good meal. He will be greatly missed.
