Toren Sinanan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Feb. 25, 2025.
Toren Ashram Sinanan, age 74, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Princes Town, Trinidad and Tobago, died peacefully on February 23, 2025 at Accent Care Hospice Center in Wilmington.
Toren attended Cowen Hamilton Secondary School in Trinidad. Later, he became a Customs Officer at the shipping docks in Trinidad and he loved his job and took pride in it. Toren suffered a stroke in 2007 and came to the US to reside with his sister Karen, who was his dedicated caretaker. Prior to his illness, he was involved in various running clubs and ran many marathons. He also enjoyed traveling. He was an avid basketball player/fanatic that would never pass up a challenge in a game. Toren grew strong in his faith and prayed daily. He loved listening to his gospel music and religious shows.
Toren was preceded in death by his parents, Ena and Karl, and his loving brother, Keith. Toren married Vena at the tender age of 21 and had his daughter, Sandy. On his second marriage to Glenis, he had his two sons, Joel and Odell. Toren is survived by his sisters: Anabella, Karen, Gail, Serena, and Terry Ann; his brothers, Gary and Terrence; his brothers-in-law, Lionel and Franklyn; his sisters-in-law, Shirley and Judy; his six grandchildren: Jada, Devon, Crysel, Ezekiel, Jaylon, and Omari; two great grandchildren, Moises and Israel; nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly and loving Pastor Duncan. Toren was a father figure, too many to name and will be missed dearly. Special thanks to the staff Nurses and Staff at Accent Care Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 from 12:30PM-1PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a funeral ceremony will begin at 1PM.
