Torunn Karin Ten Hoeve

Torunn Karin Ten Hoeve, age 74, died on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at her home in Rockaway, New Jersey.
Born in Stavanger, Norway to the late Harald and Mildred Kristiansen, Torunn came to the United States at the age of 11 on Halloween which is why she always found such excitement in dressing up for the holiday. She was a proud 35-year resident of the Green Pond section of Rockaway Township.
Torunn started her career as a waitress and bartender as a Playboy Bunny at the Playboy Club in Vernon, NJ. She went on to serve at the Seafood Shack, Neil's New Yorker, Marcella Pub, Telemark Tavern and Marcella Community Club. She absolutely loved her second family at the establishments she worked. She will be remembered as a loyal friend having a great sense of humor and a kindness that went unmatched with a beautiful soul. Torunn was an artist at heart with tremendous talent, had an insatiable love for animals and her pets, was so very proud of her Norwegian heritage, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid fan of David Bowie and Prince. She was a member of the Marcella Community Club, the BUL, and the Sons of Norway.
Torunn is survived by her two daughters: Yvette Ten Hoeve and Michelle Bartolazzi (John); four grandchildren: Tyrell Ten Hoeve, Dejah Perry, Johnny Bartolazzi, and Davina Brown; her great-granddaughter Luna Ten Hoeve; one brother, Rolf Kristiansen; her ex-husband, Richard Ten Hoeve; her longtime family friend, Mark Rayder; and her beloved cats, Tiger & Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway, NJ 07866. A funeral service will be held immediately following visiting at the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Marcella Union Cemetery in Rockaway.
