Tosha Breneman Davis, 44, of Marshall, IL, passed away on August 26, 2022. She was born September 10, 1977, in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Robert Breneman & Freda (Stover) Drummond, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, including her beloved grandmother, Mary Stover, as well as many dear aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her children & their spouses, Logan & Winie Sanders, Cassie & Djogi Bumba, and Kaylyn & Alex Crocker; by her grandchildren, Jace Crocker, Sophia Crocker, Azi Bumba, Rosie Sanders, Zia Bumba, and Alayna Crocker; by her sisters & brothers-in-law, Nicki & Jeff Reed and Mallory & Jeremy Royer; by her brother, Bobby & Cindy Breneman; by her step-father, Art Drummond; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Tosha grew up in Marshall and was a 1996 graduate of Marshall High School. She had long known that she was called to be a nurse, and so out of high school, she enrolled at Lakeland College and then Lincoln Trail College, an education that led to her becoming a Registered Nurse. Her 20+ year career found her compassionately tending to the needs of others. Most recently, she was a beloved member of the Cobblestone Crossings family. She sincerely enjoyed not only her co-workers but her residents as well, who could attest to the fact that Tosha went above and beyond in her care for them. She was, by all accounts, an unwavering advocate for those in need.
Much of her time away from work found Tosha outside, be that working in the yard or going on an adventure! She enjoyed satisfying the innate sense of wanderlust that permeated her 44 years and traveled extensively throughout her life. It didn't need to be far, but it was never the destination that really mattered; it was the journey itself. It was evident that her fun and free-spirited nature brought life to her living.
Though she liked to travel, it was her family who truly had her heart. She was a dedicated daughter, a loyal sister, a devoted mother, and a doting "Mimi". Her children could each speak to the fact that their mom was a safe place to go in times of trouble. Again and again, she opened her heart to the hurts of others without judgement. We are thankful that, by God's goodness and grace, we will see her again one glorious day.
A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31st, at New Rivers Church (306 Archer Ave. Marshall, IL). Those in attendance are invited to wear tie-dye in honor of our beloved hippy! Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation and be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Joey Harryman officiating. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
