Funeral services for Toxie Vernon Burnette, 68, of Bogue Chitto, MS will be held at Cornerstone Church on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 12noon with Bro. Danny Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10am until service time at 12noon.
Toxie was born on Thursday, July 26, 1956 in Natchez, MS. and passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 in New Orleans, LA. Toxie was a man of great character-hardworking, honest, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He was the kind of person everyone could count on, a true friend with a generous heart and a steady hand. His family meant everything to him, and he proudly took on the role of provider and protector, always ensuring their needs were met and their hearts were full. More than anything, Toxie loved God and lived his life with strong faith and purpose. His values shaped every decision he made and every relationship he nurtured. He brought joy and strength into the lives of those around him. A passionate LSU fan, Toxie bled purple and gold and never missed a chance to support his Tigers. His legacy of kindness, loyalty, and faith will never be forgotten. Toxie's presence touched many, and his memory will forever be cherished.
He is reunited with his parents, Toxie "Billy Joe" Burnette and Mable Jo Brady Burnette; son, Brandon Burnette; sister, Carolyn Roth; father & mother-in-law, James and Jean Walsworth.
Those left behind to cherish Toxie's memories are his wife, Stephanie Walsworth Burnette of Bogue Chitto, MS; son, Justin Burnette & his wife Annie of Brookhaven, MS; daughters, Kyla Smith & her husband Trent of Brookhaven, MS and Ashley Holmes & her husband Michael of Meadville, MS; step-sons, Jacob Brown of Hammond, LA and Zack Brown & his wife Taylor of Central, LA; sister, Lynn Burnette of Vidalia, LA; grandchildren, Christopher Lider, Brittanie Burnette, Ruger Burnette, Gage Burnette, Ashtin Castillo & his wife Bryanna, Tiler Castillo, Kaylei Castillo, Logan Smith, Devin Roberts, Analei Roberts, Lara Holmes, Ryder Burnette, Rilyn Burnette, Roper Burnette, Audrey Brown, and Barrett Brown; great-grandchildren, Tate Crew, Natalynn, and Addalynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Toxie as pallbearers are his grandsons: Ashtin, Tiler, Christopher, Ruger, Logan, Gage, and Ryder.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Roberts, Bubba Brady, Joe Way, Mark Cannon, Roger King, Stanley Wallace,Cory Everett, Lane Sasser, and his co-workers at Georgia Pacific.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the Mississippi Cancer Institute, Dr. Delrie and staff and Ochsner's in New Orleans and staff. Also, another special thanks goes out to Amy Miller for taking care of our animals while we were away.
