"Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever."
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Traci Nicholson Howard, 53, our beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and teacher to all whose lives she touched, on February 19th, after a brief battle with cancer.
Traci was born on July 15, 1971 in Atlanta, GA to Larry and Juanita Nicholson. After graduating from Littleton High School in Littleton, NH in 1989, Traci got her bachelor's degree from Keene State College in 1993, and went on to get her master's degree at Lesley University. Traci married the love of her life, Jeff, in 1993 and they started a family shortly after, bringing Jeffery (30), Jaclyn (26), and Ellasyn (19) into the world. Traci worked as a preschool teacher and director in Keene, NH for 10 years. After moving back to her hometown of Littleton, NH in 2003, Traci was a teacher, curriculum coach, and vice principal throughout her 19 years at Lakeway Elementary. Traci and Jeff relocated to Brunswick, GA in 2022, where Traci continued her teaching career as a 6th grade ELA teacher at Risley Middle School.
Traci was a kind-hearted and beautiful soul who had a deep love for her family and friends, and most of all, for children. She devoted her life to raising her own three children, and touched the lives of many others that she taught along the way. Traci had a special way of connecting with children of all ages and cherished building relationships with them and making things fun. Traci believed in living every day to the fullest. She loved "her people" and expressed feelings of gratitude every day for the joys in her life. She was profoundly proud of Jeffery, Jaclyn, and Ellasyn and the beautiful life she and Jeff created. Traci reveled in holiday gatherings, beach days, reading, being active, vacations with her family, playing games, chatting with her friends, and football Sundays with Jeff.
Traci is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeffery Howard II; her children, Jeffery, Jaclyn, and Ellasyn; her mother, Iris "Juanita" Nicholson; her brothers, Mark and Randal Nicholson; her in-laws, Jeff and Patty Howard, Trevor and Ariana Howard, and Taryn and Jeff Drake; and her nieces and nephews, Jason Drake, Maggie Drake, Penn Howard, and Elin Howard.
Traci was predeceased by her father, James L. Nicholson, Jr.
There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in NH in June 2025, with details to follow. Memorial donations in Traci's honor can be made to:
