Obituary
Traci Dunn Mitchell, born March 24, 1965, passed the morning of Friday, May 12, 2023, surrounded by her children and the rest of her family after nine years of cancer.
You knew her as Traci, we knew her as mom, sister, daughter, and wife. She wore each of those hats proud, but her greatest joy was being a mother to two kids whose milestones she celebrated as strength to survive each passing day. We felt her love, were guided by the grace and gratitude she had for life, and the abounding joy for her family and friends.
She liked baking, teaching scripture, playing cards, excel spreadsheets, camping, and giggling. She read scriptures, sang songs, and created art. A master home cook, she proudly shared her gifts to anyone in need. She was our friend, confidant, and constant reminder of how good life can be- and how short. She told us stories so that we would remember who we are, where we came from and the humor of our life.
Born in Conyers, Georgia to Billy and Mary Dunn, she later graduated as valedictorian from Rockdale High School then magna cum laude from Berry College in accounting. After professional stints across the southeast as a Certified Public Accountant, she devoted her life to raising her two children. She later returned to work at Tricia Armistead CPA for a decade and was the inaugural treasurer of her church, Redeemer Church of Madison. She is survived by children Jackson and Regan Mitchell, spouse Brian Mitchell, parents Hoyt "Billy" and Mary Dunn, siblings Angela (Russ) Bennett and Keith (Kay) Dunn as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
A visitation will be held at Redeemer Church of Madison on Tuesday, May 16 at 1:00 pm with a service officiated by her brother, Keith Dunn, to follow at 3 pm. The family has requested donations be made to Redeemer Church of Madison in lieu of flowers for additional furniture under a pavilion in her honor.
