Tracy Gamble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hampton Cove Funeral Home Cemetery & Crematory on Dec. 20, 2025.
Tracy William "Tracy" Gamble, 54, of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1971, in Anniston, Alabama.
Tracy was one of four sons to Donald and Linda Gamble. He grew up in a home centered on love, learning, and family, which shaped his character, values, and pursuits throughout his life.
Tracy attended Jacksonville State University from 1991 to 1995, where he earned a bachelor's degree in theatre performance. During his time at JSU, he appeared in dozens of productions, leaving a lasting impression on audiences and fellow performers alike. Among his many roles, his performance as Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath stood out as a defining moment of his undergraduate career.
Following his graduation, Tracy continued to pursue his passion for the arts, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama in technical theatre in 2008.
Following his graduation, he taught at Alabama State University as well at the University of South Alabama.
After his years as a professor, Tracy discovered a growing passion for computers, which led him to pursue further education. In 2015, he earned a master's degree in computer and information science from the University of South Alabama, marking a new and successful chapter in his lifelong commitment to learning.
Tracy served in a variety of cybersecurity roles throughout the Department of Defense, from the Pentagon to AvMC-S3I at Redstone Arsenal, where he was recognized as a trusted technical expert in his field. To those who had the privilege of working alongside him, Tracy was far more than a colleague-he was a true friend. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him, known for being the steady, calm presence in any group, who was never easily rattled. His signature colorful Hawaiian shirts reflected his vibrant personality.
Tracy was a dedicated mentor to many, generously sharing his technical expertise and guiding others in their careers in cybersecurity. His work left a lasting legacy, including significant contributions to the Risk Management Framework and the development of procedures that continue to be used across the Army today.
Outside of work, Tracy was proudly and unapologetically a "nerd". He loved comics, Dungeons & Dragons, board games, video games, science, theatre, and set design.
Above all else, Tracy loved his family. He was a devoted husband who cherished his wife deeply, a loving and supportive father who took immense pride in his children, and a joyful presence in the lives of his grandchildren. His dogs were also a constant source of happiness and comfort. Family was his anchor, his purpose, and his greatest joy.
Tracy is survived by his loving mother, Linda Gamble; his wife, Robin Gamble; his children Karla (Jonathan) Walls, Kimberlee (Austin) Humphrey, and Kyleigh Gamble; and his grandchildren Keegan Mathis, Oliver Walls, Harlee Mathis, River Humphrey, Paislee Humphrey, and Violet Humphrey.
He is also survived by his brothers Todd (Raquel) Gamble, Barry (Lisa) Gamble, and Shaun (Nicole) Gamble, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Tracy is also survived by his dear friends Richard Lloyd and Jason St. John, who were like family to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Gamble.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

I graduated from Walter Wellborn High School in Anniston, AL with Tracy Gamble. I can´t say that I knew him very well but I wish I had. He was very quiet, a true genius, and in his own words a self described "nerd." Being a lover of education myself, I am completely intrigued by the magnitude of Tracy´s genius and expertise on so many different subjects. He is totally and completely recognized by me and I believe he should be recognized on a national level. I pray for the continued improvement of his wife Robin´s health status. And I offer my prayers and condolences for Tracy´s children, grandchildren, his mother, siblings, and the rest of his family.
