Tracy Allan Gibb II, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family's love, on October 15, 2025. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A proud veteran, Tracy began his career in service to his country as a member of the United States Navy in 1986, laying the foundation for a lifelong career in the defense and aerospace industries. His journey took his growing family from the East Coast - Maryland and Connecticut - to the far West Coast of Washington State.
Tracy served as a member of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11 (EODMU-11) based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA. As part of this elite team, he supported critical Navy and coalition missions involving the detection, identification, safe rendering, and disposal of explosive ordnance both domestically and in combat zones. Assigned to the USS George Washington Carver (SSBN-656) stationed at Bangor Submarine Base, WA, Tracy bravely served his country during Operation Just Cause, Desert Storm, and Desert Shield, where he demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment.
Following his medical separation from the Navy, Tracy and his wife returned with their family to their hometown of
Salisbury, Maryland, where they were surrounded by loved ones. He continued his career in the defense and aerospace industries at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) in Wallops Island, Virginia. In August 2014, the family relocated to Central Florida, where Tracy continued to support numerous aerospace missions at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and other launch sites.
Throughout his distinguished career, Tracy held vital roles in senior leadership, program operations, engineering management, and launch operations for commercial space ventures, NASA, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). He contributed to countless missions involving scientific research, threat-representative target launches, and International Space Station (ISS) resupply efforts. Tracy was admired for his passion, leadership, tireless work ethic, and steadfast determination to see each mission through to success.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tracy found his greatest joy in life's simple moments, especially those spent with family. Whether sharing a meal and dessert, gathering around a campfire with music playing, cheering on the Washington Capitals with his wife, boating and fishing with his children and grandchildren, enjoying a movie night, attending his grandchildren's events, experiencing the magic of Disney, or celebrating the holidays with family traditions old and new, Tracy approached life with gratitude and love. He was always proud of his children and grandchildren and made sure they knew it.
Tracy is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Gibb; his devoted mother, Vera McGee; his children, Lori White, Christopher Gibb, and Steven (Rose) Gibb; and his cherished grandchildren, Gavin White, Kierstin White, Ethan White, Melanie Gibb, Lily Taylor, Landon Gibb, and Sophia Gibb. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Tracy) Gibb; mother-in- law, Cheryl Marshall; brothers-in-law, Jonathan Marshall and Todd Marshall; sister-in-law, Tammy (Chip) Bozman; and many nieces and nephews. His love and laughter will continue to live on through them and all who were fortunate to know him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tracy Allan Gibb, his son, Tracy Allan Gibb III, and his father-in-law, John "Jack" Marshall.
