George Wilson Taylor Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 22, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on February 16, 1942, George was a lifelong resident of Greenbackville. He was a cherished member of his community and known for his warmth and kindness.
George dedicated over 30 years to the construction industry as the owner and operator of George Taylor Construction until his retirement on July 30, 2010. His craftsmanship and work ethic left a lasting impact on many. A true community man, he was actively involved in several local organizations, including Living Waters Inspirational Church of God, Greenbackville United Methodist Church, the Great Pocomoke Fair Committee, and the Trail Ends Environmental Committee.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Taylor, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind his loving children: Tami Stambaugh (Denny) of Greenbackville, VA; Lee Ward (Theresa) of Marion Station, MD; Christopher Taylor (Abigail) of Florida; David Ward of Greenbackville, VA; and Amy Hughes (Chris) of Willards, MD; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George's gentle spirit, quick wit, and friendly nature touched the lives of everyone he met, and he never knew a stranger.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Myrtle Taylor; and sons, Matthew Taylor and George "Rocky" Taylor, III. George was passionate about life's adventures, enjoying boating, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and engaging in lively conversations. His playful spirit and ability to bring joy to those around him will be deeply missed.
In celebration of George's life, a funeral ceremony will be held at Holloway Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, on October 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation taking place one hour prior. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Union Greenbackville Cemetery. Come as you are, as we come together to remember George. We invite all who knew him to share in this time of reflection and celebration. His laughter and love will forever echo in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Living Waters Inspiration Church of God, 2226 Bypass Road, Pocomoke City, MD.
