Tracy William Lay, born on September 23, 1965, to Laverta Jensen and Leland Harvey Lay, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his South Ogden home on October 4, 2023, after a year-and-a-half-long battle with prostate cancer.

Tracy was born in Salt Lake City and lived throughout Utah, including Centerville, Marysvale, Monroe, Provo, St. George, and Ogden. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend known for his love and generosity towards others. His family's home was always open to guests, treasured family members, and friends in need.

Tracy received his formal education from South Sevier High School, Stevens-Henager College, and Weber State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering. Tracy had a successful career as an Electrical Engineer at Hill Air Force Base, where he retired in 2022. He loved his profession and encouraged the rising generation to pursue engineering.

Tracy volunteered in many capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as a full-time missionary in Costa Rica and Panama, where he learned to speak Spanish. He never passed up an opportunity to practice speaking Spanish and maintained it well throughout his life. Of his many callings, Tracy loved his time serving as a Temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple along with his sweetheart, Lisa. In his free time, Tracy enjoyed starting new projects, playing guitar and singing karaoke, working on technology, investing in real estate, and holding family gatherings.

Tracy cherished his faith and his family. In 1988, he met and married his life partner, Hiroko Lisa Awano, and their marriage was solemnized in 1989 in the Ogden Utah Temple. They raised their three children, Weston Harvey (Megan Anderson), Cody William, and Kami (Caleb) Barton, in South Ogden. Tracy is survived by his wife, three children, three grandchildren, and six siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Celebration of Tracy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Meadows Ward Church, 5855 Skyline Drive, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
