Tracy Lee Young, was born on April the 7th, of 1965 in Little Rock, Arkansas and passed away peacefully at University of Michigan Medicine Hospital on Sunday January 4th, 2026 at 6:33am after a sixteen yearlong battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Donald Lee and Barbara Ann (Goodin) Young. Tracy was 60 years old.
Tracy graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, MI. Tracy then went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from Adrian College in 1989. She spent over twenty years in the education field as a teacher in Tecumseh Public Schools. She taught kindergarten and third grade, before her retirement in late 2025. She also assisted with a family day care business which was located in Ann Arbor, where she helped numerous families with the care of their children, and elderly. Tracy had aspirations of later obtaining a Master's Degree in Reading.
Tracy was beloved by almost everyone who knew her, as she was known for her unwavering kindness, forgiving nature and calm demeanor during stressful situations. She loved reading, babysitting, gardening and cooking as well as spending time with close family and friends.
Tracy is survived by her daughter, Anna Kaylee (Devin Cavazos) Young of Tecumseh, MI; her sister, Andrea Young of Clinton, MI; and her uncle, Earl Goodin of Macon, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Tracy will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday January 9th, 2026 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, followed at 1:00 pm by a Celebration of Life at the funeral home, officiated by DeAnn Scudder. Interment will take place at Macon Cemetery in Macon, MI. The Young family has requested that in lieu of flowers, financial donations in honor of Tracy be made to the Handler Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expenses
