Donald Dickey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Handler Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Tecumseh Chapel on Jan. 29, 2026.
Donald W. Dickey, affectionately known as "The Angel Man," 93, Wildwood, Florida, passed away on January 14, 2026.
He was born on November 4, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Stanley and Margaret Dickey. Don played football for Fordson High School in Dearborn, MI, graduating in 1951. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he continued his love for football.
In 1954, Don married Eleanor Snyder (deceased). Together, they raised three daughters. The couple began their married life in Dearborn, MI, before moving to Osseo, MI and later Tecumseh, MI. Don retired from Ford Motor Company, Saline, MI, in 1994.
In 2017, Don moved to Florida with his wonderful companion, Mary Bolton. He was a compassionate man with a heart of gold who loved people and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He will be remembered for the thousands of angels he crafted with love, simple handmade gifts to brighten someone's day and remind them that someone cares.
Don enjoyed attending softball games at Continental Country Club and even helped in the announcing booth. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions. A true animal lover, he volunteered with the Lenawee County Humane Society and provided pet therapy at local nursing homes for several years.
He was a member of the Tecumseh American Legion and the Continental Country Club American Legion. He was also a Master Mason for 40 years.
Don is survived by his children, Denise (Ken) Wykrent, Carol (Jeryn deceased) Frederick, and Marti (Tim) Williams; grandchildren; Jeffrey (Kim), David (Stacy), Eric (Dana), Evan (Kathryn), Kaitlin (Carl) and Timothy. Ten great-grandchildren; Henry, Violet, Nora, Ben, Will, Elliott, Alice, Chloe, Luke, Alyssa. His loving partner, Mary Bolton and sister Margie (Peg)
A graveside service will be held in Michigan on April 18, 2026 at Ridgeway cemetery at 11:00AM with a celebration of life at 1:00PM at the Tecumseh American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's memory to The Lenawee County Humane Society.
