Travis Howard George was born on November 2, 1976, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and brought joy and laughter to everyone who crossed his path until his passing on April 22, 2025, in Selmer, Tennessee.
Travis was widely known for his incredible skills as a carpenter. His craftsmanship left a lasting mark, but even more impressive was the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Outside of work, he found great joy in riding motorcycles, a passion that brought him freedom and peace.
Yet above all, his heart belonged to his family-especially his beloved grandchildren. Time spent with them was his greatest treasure.
Travis had a rare gift for humor. His playful banter and teasing nature made him a favorite among friends and family. He had a way of lighting up a room and lifting spirits with just a grin or a well-timed joke.
He is survived by his life partner, Nicole Eddy; his mother, Rachel Howard George; daughter, Kirstin Gilbert and her husband Jasa of Darden, TN; his son Diego George of Ripley, MS; grandchildren: EverlyRose Burks, Braelynn Gilbert, Micah Gilbert; his sisters, Melissa George of Indianapolis, IN and her children: Kallah and Maddie, Lisa Mincy and husband Randy of Burnsville, MS and their children, Keegan and Keelee; his aunts, Sandy Howard of OH, Juanita Denham of Selmer, TN, Dawn Howard of IN; and host of cousins, extended family and friends.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Gumez; his grandparents Grover and Maultee Howard; four uncles: Alex Howard, Grover Junior Howard, Amiel Howard, and Steve Howard.
