On a Tuesday morning, August 25th, 1987, the world was blessed with the birth of Travis Dervan Koch — a gentle soul whose presence was truly the light in his mother’s eye. Born to the late Robert Koch and Patricia Koch, Travis carried within him from the very beginning a profound kindness and sensitivity that touched countless hearts throughout his life.
Everyone loved Travis. His ability to connect, to empathize, and to care — especially for animals — was both genuine and pure. He had a heart that instinctively reached out to the vulnerable, the misunderstood, and the overlooked. Though he may never have fully seen or understood just how deeply he was loved by so many, his gentle spirit left an imprint on every person fortunate enough to know him.
Music was one of Travis’s great passions. He could pick up and play a variety of instruments, creating beauty and expression through melody. He also had a gift for humor, with a laugh that was as beautiful as it was contagious — a laugh that brought lightness even to the heaviest of moments.
Travis lived simply. He never sought riches or material things. What mattered most to him were the true and lasting connections with others — to be invited, to be seen, to be included, and above all, to be loved. These were the treasures he valued most in life. And in turn, Travis gave love freely and deeply, even when he wasn’t sure how much he was receiving in return.
In the final moments of his earthly journey, Travis found the Lord and embraced His love and grace. This spiritual peace serves as a great comfort to those who loved him, knowing he rests now in eternal light and salvation.
Those who knew Travis will forever carry the memory of his kindness, his laughter, his empathy, and his unwavering love. Though he might never have believed it himself, Travis leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of many.
He will be deeply missed, always remembered, and eternally loved.
Travis is survived by his brother, Robby Koch and his wife Ilana Koch of Twin Falls, Idaho, and sister, Tiffaney Koch Mitchell of Albany, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the memorial services.
