Retired MSgt. Travis Norwood, United States Air Force, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2024 while surrounded by his loving family, here in Del Rio. He was born on March 30, 1948 in D' Lo, Mississippi.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Denie and George Norwood; siblings: Charley Norwood, Nathaniel Norwood, Carolyn Norwood, Willie Norwood, and Betty Jean Norwood. Travis is also preceded in death by other siblings.
Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Alicia I. Norwood of Del Rio; children: Zoleka Buard of Houston, TX, Randall Norwood of Alabama, Anjanette Norwood (Miguel Vega) of Del Rio, and Eliana Fox (Jake Fox) of San Antonio, TX; sister, Peggy Wethersbee (late Harold Wethersbee) of MS; grandchildren: Evie Norwood Vega, Aurelie Norwood Vega, Gianna Fox (arriving soon...); Travis is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Esperanza First Del Rio, located at 301 Ave. G. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force and the Jesus Limones American Legion Honor Guard Post # 595. Pallbearers will be: Jake Fox, Miguel Vega, and Randall Norwood.
In lieu of floral arrangements the Norwood family asks that donations be made to: the Boys and Girls Club of Del Rio, the Missions Fund of City Church Del Rio, or the Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition.
