Travis Tovon Toliver

AHOSKIE, NC - Travis Tovon Toliver, aged 45, passed away on August 3, 2025, at 8:28 a.m. at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. Travis was born on October 12, 1979, in Ahoskie, Hertford County, North Carolina, to his loving parents, Willie Lee Toliver, Jr. and Laverne Hall Toliver.

Travis was a dedicated and hardworking individual who embraced a diverse career path. He served as a Correction Officer at Butner Prison, sold insurance, and most recently ventured into the field of marketing. His passion for knowledge was evident through his avid reading habits and commitment to staying informed about the latest news. If something was unfamiliar, he diligently researched it until he became knowledgeable.

Known for having a heart of gold, Travis was generous to those in need, often willing to help others in any way he could. Despite being a private person who valued his solitude, he possessed a caring spirit that touched the lives of many. He was a man of strong will, always setting goals and showing resilience in the face of challenges. When his efforts faltered, he prayed and persevered until he achieved success.

Travis was a physical fitness enthusiast who constantly sought healthier living practices. His athleticism was matched by his love for travel, experiencing diverse cultures around the world. Among his outdoor interests, fishing and enjoying the beach were his favorites. The salt air and local cuisine of coastal destinations brought him immense joy.

A graduate of Ahoskie High School, Travis furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC, followed by a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Central University in Durham, NC.

Travis is preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Toliver, Jr. He is survived by his cherished family, including his mother, Laverne Toliver of Ahoskie; his beloved daughter, Brea Toliver of Maryland, his brother, Tony DeWayne Toliver and wife, Kathleen, of Columbia, SC; nephews, Rahsheed and Prince Toliver; nieces, Shaelyn and Toni Toliver; alongside many aunts, uncles, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. A celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Sr. officiating. Travis will be laid to rest at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Ahoskie, NC.
