Tressie R. Manley, age 82, of Highlandville passed away Friday, May 10, 2024. She was born June 29, 1941 in Cedar Creek to Roy and Effie (Hankins) Marler. Tressie was united in marriage to Ronald Manley December 8,1960.
Tressie grew up in Forsyth and graduated from Forsyth High School in 1960. Tressie and Ronald Manley were married December 8, 1960 by Justice of the Peace T. P. Saunders in Harrison, AR. Ron had to get permission from his parents as he was too young. Tressie and Ron owned Manley and Sons Body Shop and Tow Service on Manley Hill, in Forsyth. Tressie helped with book keeping but was the homemaker. She also worked for Forsyth High School in the kitchen. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and cooking. Tressie loved animals. she enjoyed raising chickens and her dogs. If there was a stray she was sure to adopt it. Tressie found a white banty rooster roosting in a cedar tree. She climbed the tree and grabbed the chicken out of the tree. She named the chicken Lucky. Tressie also enjoyed quilting and fishing. One time, while fishing on a pontoon boat, Tressie saw some ducklings in the water next to the boat. She jumped in the water, forgetting she was afraid of the water and couldn't swim. The water was knee deep.
Ron closed the body shop in 1992 and they moved to Highlandville. Tressie went to work for Chateau on the Lake Hotel, in Branson as a house keeper. She always made time for her grandchildren which were her pride and joy. Tressie and Ron attended Riverdale Baptist Church where they were active in the activities.
Survivors include her husband Ron; a daughter Tammy Manley of St. Louis; sons Russell Manley (Kim) of Ozark, and Cody Manley, of Highlandville; grandchildren Dustin McCormick (Emily), Jared Manley (Chantra), Dylan Manley, Victoria Manley, Alexia Miller (William), and Olivia Lumley (Max); great grandchildren Marlee McCormick, Maxwell McCormick, Beckham McCormick, Grayson Manley, Hayden Miller, Hadley Miller, Landen Miller, and Lainey Miller; and a sister Mae Persinger.
Tressie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Troy Lee Marler, Quincy "Coke" Marler, Glendale "Fuzzy" Marler, C.D. Marler, and Don Marler, a sister Mildred Shank; and a grandson Trevor Cummings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2024 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating. A visitation will precede the funeral from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Selmore Cemetery, Ozark.
