Troy G. Abbott

Troy G. Abbott, age 74, of Rochester, Ky. passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Rochester, Ky. on May 29, 1949. Troy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division from 1969 to 1971. Troy loved riding his side by side, being on his tablet and enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents Ardell "Red" and Mary Lou Pruitt Abbott; grandson Talon Jones and sister Tamara Peters.
Troy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Grubb Abbott of Rochester; daughter Christie Hurt and her husband Jerry of Morgantown; grandchildren Houston Jones and his companion Jazmin; Easton Jones and Bryleigh Jones; two step-grandchildren Jerri Forbes (Andrew) and Jaden Hurt; two step-great grandchildren Keegan and Levi Forbes; brother Steve Abbott and his wife Sue; sister Sherry Ponder and companion Norm; several nieces, nephews, family and friends and special buddy Adeline Burden.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 at 3pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Murl Gray officiating. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery where Houston Jones, Easton Jones, Steve Abbott, Dustin Abbott, Brandon Givens, Terry Grubb, Michael Grubb and Scottie Grubb will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors will be presented by the Ohio Co. Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 11am until 3pm at Smith Funeral Home.
