Trudice Laura Gottweis

Trudice "Trudy" Laura Gottweis , age 69 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Kettering Health Dayton. She was born October 11, 1955 in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of the late John and Eila Virtannen. Trudy graduated from Brigham Young University, earning her Bachelors of Music, She also studied music at the Woburn Collegiate Institute of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronta. She sang in the Brigham Young University A Cappella Choir. Trudy had a lifelong passion for music and she worked as the 2nd Soprano for the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. She found her greatest love when she became a mother and she retired from the choir to be a full time mom. Trudy was a fierce advocate for autism awareness and she went to great lengths to provide for her son with autism be working with several different organizations so give him the care he needed. She was a person of great faith and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of Trudy's greatest experiences was working as a missionary in Kaosiung, Taiwan. She was a bright light and will be deeply missed. 

Trudy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Gottweis; Sons, Christian D. Gottweis, and Jason T. (Tory) Gottweis; Sisters, Dena (Gaetano) Della-Fortuna, Rona (Ted) Swan, and Wendy Bouie; Friends, Joanna (Leonard) Best, and Maura (Dennis) Levit; and by numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, Autism Speaks, or Doctors Without Borders.
