Trudy Bruns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Mortuary - Jefferson City on Jan. 14, 2025.
Gertrude Cecelia "Trudy" Bruns, age 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born on May 19, 1931, the daughter of Dennis and Gertrude (Klaus) Graeser. She was married on May 24, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo., to Robert John (Bob) Tegethoff who passed away on January 15, 1991, and to this marriage brought Trudy four children. Trudy was then married to Roderick "Roddy" Bruns, on April 22, 1995. After almost 30 years of marriage, Roddy passed away on March 30, 2024. Trudy and Roddy spent the last 6 years in the loving care of Primrose Retirement Community.
Trudy's faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of St. Peter Catholic Church, she participated actively in the life of her parish. She sang joyfully in the choir, worked with the Guadalupe Circle, and volunteered tirelessly to maintain the church sanctuary. Trudy's service extended beyond her parish; she was also a dedicated Girl and Cub Scouts leader for many years, and volunteered and donated to numerous organizations.
One of Trudy's joys was traveling. Trudy also had a playful spirit, enjoying card games, dancing, gardening and was a gifted seamstress. She crafted cherished keepsakes for her family. Her sewing was not only a talent but a heartfelt expression of her love for those closest to her where she and her daughter, Sue, enjoyed being members of a sewing circle.
Family was the heart of Trudy's life, and she embraced her role as the beloved matriarch with grace and pride. She treasured the countless memories created with her loved ones and found immense joy in passing down her values and traditions. Her thoughtful and caring nature allowed her to connect with each family member in a deeply personal way. Trudy had a special gift for making others feel cherished. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate her loved ones, thoughtfully sending cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones. A woman of deep faith, she believed in the power of prayer and made it her mission to pray for the well-being of every member of her family and friends, ensuring they always felt supported and loved.
Her loving family includes, daughters, Sue Kuebler (Wayne) of Jefferson City, Mo., and Mary Schultz (Rick) of Mission Hills, Kansas; sons, Steve Tegethoff (Manette) of Tomball, Tx., and Mike Tegethoff (Carol) of Houston Tx.; step-sons, Terry Bruns (Connie) of Jefferson City, and Mike Bruns of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Renee West (Jeff), Jennifer Surber (Chris), Chelle Meek (Travis), Sam Schultz (Lauren), Sarah Mugavero (Joe), Stacey Schultz, Megan Spencer (Josh), and Jessica Glende (Kris), and step-grandchildren, Regan Bruns, and Molly Bruns; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family.
Trudy was preceded in passing by her husbands, Bob Tegethoff, and Roddy Bruns; her parents, Dennis and Gertrude Graeser; brother Frank Graeser (Millie); sisters Helen Dintleman (Bill), and Mary Ann Fischer (George).
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Reverend Monsignor Robert A. Kurwicki V.G., and Deacon Brad Jones officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
