COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT
Trudy Martinez Duran, 77, a resident of Española, NM, passed away peacefully at the Taos Living Center on February 28, 2026.
Trudy was a longtime employee of Rio Arriba County and had served as the Children’s Nursery Director at El Buen Pastor Church, where she lovingly cared for many children over the years. She had a nurturing heart and a natural gift for making those around her feel safe, loved, and special.
Above all, Trudy cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by them, sharing laughter, stories, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed unwinding with her favorite shows on Lifetime, something that brought her comfort and simple joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Emilio and Teodora Martinez; her brother, Emilio Jr; her sisters, Sofie Gurule, Corinne Russo, Clora Martinez and Rebecca Martinez; sisters-in-law Belle and Jean Martinez; son-in-law, Joe Klein; and the father of her children, George Duran.
Trudy is survived by her daughters Joy, Jennifer and Erica Duran (Enrique); her grandchildren Brandon (Desiree), Gerrick, Jaimie and Savannah; and her great-grandchildren Ryder, Justice and Raiden; siblings, Sy, Tomas (Miei), Jake (Naidene), Rick Martinez (Joann) and Norma Herrera (Art); brother-in-law Carlos Gurule; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she lovingly cared for while they were growing up.
Services are pending at this time.
