Truman Claire Olson

Truman Claire Olson, age 91, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Methodist Campus. Truman was born on October 21, 1934, in Woden, Iowa to Christ and Lillian (Heaney) Olson. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School. Truman grew up on a farm and spent the rest of his life as a farmer.

On October 1, 1955, Truman was united in marriage to Mary Lou Nelson at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Their union was blessed with four children. The couple lived in the Albert Lea area until 1967, when they moved to Brownsdale. Truman was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale. He loved to play cards and games; he and Mary Lou belonged to the same card club for almost 60 years. Truman loved to sing and never missed a chance to watch Lawrence Welk. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Sheri Olson, Wendy (Clifford) Olson-Hodde, Pam Wollenburg, and Jill Jones; grandchildren, Matt (Amy), Kyle, Travis, Aleah (Michael), Daniel (Gabi), and Christian (Cassy); nine great-grandchildren; and sister, LeAnn (Jim) Iseminger. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou Olson; seven brothers; two sisters; and son-in-law, Bob Jones.

A funeral service for Truman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brownsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Salvation Army. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
