Tsutomu Ohba

Tom Ohba passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Yuki Ohba (Iain), of Edmonton, AB, Miki Ohba, of Vancouver, BC, and Maki Ohba, of Calgary, AB; Grandchildren Devin Ohba, Sato Macpherson and Kai Macpherson; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Satoko Ohba.

Tom was born in Shikka-Cho, Japan. He joined the Self-defense Air Force in Japan and then met the love of his life Satoko. They were married and then began their family with Yuki and Miki being born in Japan. In 1974 they began an adventure and moved to Canada, making Calgary their home. Once in Calgary, they were blessed with their third daughter, Maki, completing their family. With Tom's experience in the Air Force, he became an aircraft maintenance engineer and enjoyed a long career in aircraft maintenance. In his spare time Tom loved to tinker and fix things, and he also enjoyed hiking and camping. Tom also picked up Ham Radio as a hobby in his spare time and enjoyed it for many years. He was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed spending time serving in the church and volunteering in the Calgary Temple.

A Funeral Service will be held for Tom at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Willow Park Chapel (940 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary) on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Tom to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (kidney.ca).
