Funeral Services for Tylene Welch Norcross, 76, of York will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. from York Baptist Church with Rev. James Lawson and Dr. Grant McLain officiating. Burial will follow in the Cokes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Tylene Norcross passed away on June 18, 2025, at her daughter's residence in Toomsuba, Mississippi. Born on July 24, 1948, in Meridian, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Ralph Southerland Welch and Sadie Lee Rawson Welch. Tylene was raised in Bunkum before relocating to York. For many years, she worked as a childcare provider, nurturing numerous children. With her tender heart, she was the glue that held her family together. Always ready to entertain and with a hot meal on the stove, she epitomized the essence of a Southern cook-whether it was her renowned macaroni and cheese or delectable brownies. No one left her home hungry; you were guaranteed a plate and often a to-go box as well. Her love for children was evident in her many years of service in the nursery at York Baptist Church. Her door was always open to everyone, regardless of race or creed. Tylene had a way of making people feel cherished; once you met her, you would never forget her. Another one of Tylene's passions was singing. She participated in the choir during high school. Tylene often filled the home with hymns, sharing her love for music with her family. She was incredibly generous, often giving to others even when she had little to spare. She truly was the heart of her family. Whether she was cooking, watching her favorite shows, shelling peas, or enjoying watermelon, everyone wanted to be near her. Tylene was the spice of life, and her absence will be profoundly felt.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana Norcross Lawson and husband David; granddaughter, Lauren Lawson; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Maddie, Aivley, Blakeleigh, Nolan, and Laityn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Southerland Welch and Sadie Lee Rawson Welch; brothers, Lee Welch and George Welch; and sisters, Patricia Welch and Evelyn Welch Monsour.

Pallbearers include George "Bubba" Welch, Brandon Welch, Chris Welch, Steffun Seward, Jonathon Bartlett, and Donald Winsett.

Honorary Pallbearers include Landon Lawson, Lee Mazingo, William C. Brewer III, and Ron Disu.
