Our beloved son, Tyon C. Hickerson, was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in January 2024. He gained his wings and joined his mother, Sheena Charley-Hickerson, in eternal peace. Tyon leaves behind his father, Charles Hickerson; stepmother, Michelle Hickerson; twin sister, Tyiona Hickerson; brother, Charles Hickerson IV; stepsister, Natalie Stewart; and stepbrother, Kiko Rhynehardt. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Valerie Dyson, Norma Bynum, and Deanne Rhynehardt; grandfathers, David Bynum and Brian Moore; aunts, Trayshawna Stewart and Joanna Lawson; uncles, Marzus Sellers, Antonio Rhynehardt, Jermaine Rhynehardt, Brian Moore, Terrance Chapman, Jason Moore, James Griffin, Dee Brown, and Kevin Woodward. Additionally, Tyon leaves behind the Hickerson, Rhynehardt, Charley, Bynum, Jordan, and Moore families.
Tyon was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Pickerington High School North, class of 2023. He ran track from the age of six and had a deep love for the sport. His favorite color was red. Tyon was an energetic, happy, and loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, and friend. He had a caring nature and touched many lives with his love and joy. Tyon loved playing basketball with his friends and family and was known for his loud voice and big smile that could light up any room. He was a remarkable young soul who believed in the power of prayer, as evidenced by the prayer books he kept in his room in Chicago.
In June 2023, Tyon joined the U.S. Navy, fulfilling his long-held dream. He reported to the Great Lakes Naval Base for boot camp in July 2023, where he quickly became a leader in his barracks. His fellow service members admired him for his hard work and dedication. Tyon was excited about his future, including plans to start school and continue his leadership journey in the Navy. He was always eager to help others and had a generous spirit. Tyon's legacy lives on through his many accomplishments in such a short time. We are deeply honored to have had him as our dear son.
Tyon was preceded in death by his mother, Sheena Charley-Hickerson, and his grandfather, Charles Hickerson Jr, and Great Grandparents.
