Tyrone "Ty" Morris, 85, of Greeley passed away on Christmas morning, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 21, 1939 in East Chicago, Indiana to Bennie and Esther Mae (Dawson) Morris where he was raised and graduated from high school in 1958.
Ty went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico and then received his Masters in Guidance Counseling from Ohio University.
In September 1990, Ty married Lois Elizabeth Berett at the First Presbyterian Church in Greeley.
Ty began his career with the University of Northern Colorado in 1976 and served in the Residence Life Program, retiring in 1999. He went to work for Dayspring Christian Schools for 12 years as a counselor and later worked part-time jobs at Adamson Life Celebration Home and Home Depot.
He spent 30 years as a high school and peewee league wrestling referee and researched and presented many programs related to the work songs of the African-American slaves. Music was a big part of Ty's life, playing guitar in bands as well as singing.
Ty was an active member of Cornerstone Church (First Presbyterian).
Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Lois, their children; Esther (Connor) Morgan and Ben Morris, his brother Melvin Morris and his sister Linda Tolbert and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clarence Morris.
Ty's service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Cornerstone Church with a reception to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to "Cornerstone Church" in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.

I remember Ty always smiling in the hallways of Dayspring Christian Academy. He was such a friend to students, including my 3 kids, providing counseling and support and substituting in classes. I can't think of Ty except for with a smile.
