Ubence Guel Obituary
Ubence was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 24, 1950, to Manuel Guel-Escobedo and Alida Cerda Guel. He loved to watch Westerns and will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and good nature.
Ubence is preceded in death by his wife, of twenty-five years, Maria Guel, father, Manuel Guel-Escobedo, mother Alida Cerda Plata, stepfather, Jose Plata and sister, Kristina Plata.
Ubence is survived by his son, John Polendo, sisters, Jesusita Guel, Criselda P. Hernandez, Sandra Plata, and Alida Plata Moore (Tom), brothers, David Plata, and Hector Plata (Alicia), nephews, Alfredo Naveja, Rudy Robles and Manuel Valdez, nieces, Monica Morales, Brenda Morales, Briana Morales, Ariana Rosales, Michele Molina and Melissa Valdez.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at 2409 Baldwin Blvd, Corpus Christi, Tx. 78405. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1322 Comanche St. Corpus Christi, TX 78401. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
