Una Faye Gotzinger, age 85, of Potosi, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Stonehill Health Center in Dubuque, Iowa. She was born on November 16, 1938, in Beetown Township, the daughter of Arnold and Lela (Meyers) Traupe. Faye graduated from Cassville High School. On July 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to David E. Gotzinger. Faye was a homemaker and raised her family of six children. She later was employed at Loudspeaker Components, LLC for 28 years. Faye dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling; some of her favorite places were Colorado, California, Hawaii, London, Ireland and an Alaskan cruise. Faye was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include her six children: Ricky, Daniel (Cheryl), Tammy, Timothy, Thomas (Shannon) Gotzinger and Amy (Dave) Nix; five grandchildren: Jason (Amanda), Nicole, Brittany, Maile and Kyla Gotzinger; two great-grandchildren: Avery and Lyra Gotzinger; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, David on August 26, 1998; her siblings: Ila (Francis) Retallick and Norman “Dale” (Claire) Traupe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 4:45 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Una Faye Gotzinger Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is assisting the family.
