Succasunna: Urruitia Alice O'Rourke, born on March 6, 1930, passed away peacefully in bed at her daughter Cathleen's home on January 23, 2025. She was married to Henry Edward O'Rourke, who passed away while she was in her 50s. Urruitia is survived by her daughter Cathleen, who was also her caretaker. She was preceded in death by her son Wally.
Urruitia leaves behind three living grandchildren: Kimberly and husband Mike, John Junior and wife Joann, and Greg, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and cherished by her family.
Her interests included crocheting outfits and blankets for her family, a hobby that brought warmth and joy to many. Urrutita was an active member of her Port Morris United Methodist church as well as a member of the Queen Esters for roughly 60 years before joining Flanders United Methodist Church with her daughter. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and crabbing with her husband and family, creating many treasured memories.
Urruitia was a dedicated homemaker and a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at the Flanders United Methodist Church on March 29 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent to either Flanders United Methodist Church or Port Morris United Methodist Church.
