Ursula Marie Morrison (nee Brylski), a truly kind, modest, and charitable soul with a deep Catholic faith -she was beloved by family, her friends, and acquaintances.
She was born in 1928 in La Salle, IL and graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School. She attended community college while working in banking and as a waitress at Starved Rock State Park lodge. She took a trip out to Colorado and fell in love with the state, moved out to Boulder and completed a degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
After graduating from college, she worked as a medical records librarian for Rose Medical Center in Denver. It was during this time that she met her future husband, William (“Bill”) Morrison, who was finishing his degree in chemical engineering at the University of Colorado.
Ursula and Bill were married in May, 1962, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in La Salle, Il. After their honeymoon they made their home in north-west Denver before buying a house at 130 South Corona Street in Denver in April 1963, a home that Ursula continued to live in through March 2014.
Ursula was a parishioner at Mother of God Catholic Church from 1963 – 1977 and 1990-2023, and at St Vincent de Paul Parish from 1977 – 1990. She was very involved with her faith participating in various bible studies, serving as a sponsor in the RCIA program and other ministries. She also worked for several years as a parish secretary at St. Vincent de Paul parish.
After her husband Bill retired in 1991 Ursula enjoyed traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, reading, and keeping up on current events and politics.
A bit after her husband Bill’s death in 2013 Ursula moved into Brookdale Park Place in Denver where she was a resident from March 2014 – August 2023.
Ursula peacefully passed away at 3:15 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in the presence of her grandson, Sidney, after a 7-month illness.
Ursula is preceded in death by her faithful husband of 51 years, Bill; her parents, Vickie and Leo, and her brother, Leo. She is survived by her three children, Tom, Nancy and Bob; four grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah (Alex), Sidney and Ursula.
She will be deeply missed but is now at peace with Christ and the Blessed Mother. Her love for her faith, husband, children and grandchildren and the service she did on earth will live on always.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Mother of God Catholic Church on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10:30 am. The Mass will be concelebrated by Msgr. Peter Quang Nguyen and Fr. Vincent Phung. The Mass will be preceded by a Rosary and viewing at 10:00 am. A reception, open to all, will be held immediately afterward at the Church of the Risen Christ. Ursula’s interment will be later in September at Ft. Logan National cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband.
